TIPS ON HOW TO DECREASE STRESS

Hi everyone. So today I feel like sharing what I’ve been thinking of lately with you and trying to put it all into words and this is something that I am fairly sure you all are familiar with. As you probably can tell that I have been through so much ups and downs lately, and when it comes to ‘downs’ or uptight situation – I feel so stressed and even more often than not I have so much negativity in mind and that has become the biggest obstacle for me to strive against. I just want to talk about something that really affects every single one of us but we all react totally differently and that is.... stress. A few days ago when I was on Facebook, I scrolled up and down upon my timeline page and I came across an article which discusses the ways to just avoid and go against depression. Then I had a thought that I should just give it a go myself to write things down concerning with stress and whatever it is I have been through that can cause me stressed.
It can be the smallest things or the biggest things but it literally can affect every single person on this planet in a totally different way. And it can be really difficult to know how to cope with this case. Stress itself can be caused from anything such as work, exam, family, financies, relationship, friends, or anything else. And sometimes, the smallest things that might seem like nothing to anyone, to you it can really affect to you and cause you to feel really uptight and just genuinely really stressed. I’m personally quite sensitive when it comes to stress. I get really tight feelings in my chest and I breathe really shallowly from my chest. And I just cannot talk to anyone and I end up shutting myself off from everything which is not good (maybe). I need hours or even days to be able to get back to the normal me. As you might already know that I in the past haven’t dealt with it in the best way. It was all like everything built up, and up, and up and up and then it just came out to be a big thing when it really didn’t have to be in the first place.
However, over time I have learnt to deal with it. There are certain things that genuinely can calm me down, make me way more relaxed and drift the stress away. These things really work for me when I’m stressed out and I have been wanting to pass on these tips to you and I have 0 clue whether or not it will work for you but probably you should give it a try. Recently, I like going on youtube watching british vloggers one of which is Niomi Smart. She’s a beauty vlogger but also likes sharing things related to health as well. Her video that I last watched was 5 ways to de-stress and her tips really help me to lighten my mood when I’m stressed cause I tend to have the worst mood ever when I’m in a bad situation. Okay, without furthur a do, let’s just get the ball rolling. Here are the tips:
1.   BREATHING
The first thing is breathing, well of course we are all breathing if we are not then we are a dead body (giggles). But what I mean by breathing here is when you’re stressed out you do tend to kind of shallow or short breathe and you don’t really breathe into the belly. That will just make matters worse. So when you’re having a really stressful moment and you just can’t concentrate on anything, just take a couple of minutes out, sit down or lie down, hold your hand on your belly and close your eyes and just concentrate breathing down onto the belly and not your chest. Within even a couple of minutes, you will notice that you feel a lot more calm and feel like all of that tension tends to drift off and afterwards you find that you have a clear mind and you can focus on whatever it is youare stressed about and try to sort the problem out rather than being really tensed and do not know what to do. And the best part about this is you can do it wherever you are. You can do it sitting down, standing up, at your desk or anywhere else it doesn’t really matter where you are.

2.   MUSIC
It might sound pretty obvious but it does really help to listen to music to calm you down. It doesn’t matter what kind of genre of music you need to listen to, as long as it calms you down that is genuninely the one that you should listen to. Currently, I’ve been in love with Sam Smith’s and Adele’ssongs, Sam Smith’s songs I’ve been currently listening to are what’s in the lonely hour album which include I’m Not The Only One, Make It To Me, Stay With Me and all that jazz, whilst Adele’s songs are Hello and When We Were Young. I’m just so obsessed with their voice and I love listening to every single of their song whilst relaxing in my flat and listening to music sort of drifts off stress a bit. You can listen to songs you like most whilst you’re sitting whilst breathing or if you are out and about you can just pop on your headphone and enjoy listening to calming and relaxing music. For me personally, it really does help.

3.   HOBBY
If you have hobbies, you have to find time to just do that. It doesn’t matter what sort of hobbies or activities you have, as long as you enjoy doing it then it’s your thing. You should definitely do it. I never thought I actually had a hobby until there was one thing that everytime I did it I just felt really relaxed and it really calmed me down and I really enjoy doing it and that is reading. Just light reading, nothing like thriller or anything. Apart from reading, I like going out in the evening, riding a bike, trying to let my thoughts wander and just get some fresh air. I never plan on where I am going to when I am stressed, I just go out and have no destination but however within a couple of minutes I feel way more relaxed. I couldn’t careless whether the night air is good or not for my body, but when I feel stressed that is one of the ways that help me calm down one bit. I genuinely could go the same route over and over again somewhere close to my flat or campus.

4.   EXERCISE
I’m not talking about going out and doing really hard workout. If that works for you then great but personally I prefer something a bit more slow pace which is something that gets your body moving. This could be going on a walk on your own, or a run, or light workout. I prefer get my body moving inside my room, by playing some workout music and just do some yoga as I have a couple of videos of yoga that I downloaded from youtube. The best thing about exercising is that when I’m sweating all over my body, I grab a towel and go staright to the bathroom having a shower and I feel more relaxed and fresher afterwards. This works really well on me.

5.   THE LITTLE THINGS
Prioritise sometimes throughout the day to just treat yourself. So there are a few little things that I really like to do when I am feeling stressed or down in the dumps. One of them is to make a cup of tea/coffee, I can tell that I am such a coffee person. It’s so perfect to make myself a cup of hot coffee in this cold weather nowadays. Besides, coffee itself can actually brighten up my mood. When I feel like talking or sharing my problem or whatever it is that I’m stressed about, I text a friend or a couple friends of mine that I can share my stressful problems with. We just go out swinging by a coffee cafe and just having a talk of what I want to talk cause I like to be listened to or moreover getting a solution to what problem I’m dealing with. I could spend hours talking to my bestfriend, and also sometimes having someone’s company is the best way to forget and release stress. Apart from the above, I like going on youtube. I have a couple of my favourite youtube channels that I often go on to. Such as british vloggers (Caspar Lee, Joe Sugg, Marcus Butler, Zoella, Niomi Smart, Jack & Finn, and many more!), when I want a laugh I go on some comedy talk shows one of which is The Late Late show with James Corden (my current fave British talkshow), but at times I also want some song covers and I always go on to some cool cover singers such as Tanner Patrick and Hanna Trigwell. Youtube contributes to lightening up my mood when I am stressed. Last one is just having a chat with my dad talking about what I am dealing with and he always comes up with the best solution ever. Keep in mind that it’s completely normal to go through some uptight and stressful situations. Every single person in this whole world gets that kind of moment. The main thing is don’t worry it’ll be okay in the end and try to follow these tips who knows they also work for you. Hopefully they will help you. Thank you.
